SHORT HISTORY

Department of Social Policy and Social Work

The study field Social Policy and Social Work has seen a dynamic development since its foundation in 1991. Ivo Řezníček (The Catholic University of America, Washington D.C.), author of the first Czech textbook on the methods of social work, contributed to its foundation. The program expanded in the following years (1991–1994) as a part of the Sociology program at the Faculty of Arts. Since 1995, one could study it in combination with Sociology at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Department of Social Policy and Social Work has offered Social Policy and Social Work in combinations with study fields at the Faculty of Arts (at the Faculty of Social Studies since 1998) at undergraduate level and as a one-subject program at Master level since 1997. The academic year 1999 saw the foundation of the part-time form. The graduate level study field focused on human resource management was added in the following year.
